The food in Vietnam is amazing almost wherever you go, but the food in the restaurants simply cannot compare to some of the food you will find in local homes or on the streets. However, always be sure to choose where you eat carefully because there is a risk of food poisoning.

The Mekong Delta

While it may be tempting to just stay in the cities, visiting this spectacular river is an opportunity not to be missed. There are plenty of things to do on and around the waters as well as some stunning wildlife to see.

One of the most popular destinations in Vietnam, also known as Lantern Town, was the most memorable experience on my trip. Hoi An is a great place to buy souvenirs, especially lanterns, with its extensive amount of shops. It is also home to several tailor shops where you can buy custom clothes for a very cheap price. If you are out at night you will see boats on the river carrying lanterns, lighting up the waters.
